Ferrari Opens 849 Testarossa Configurator, and Taste Is Entirely Optional

Share

The Ferrari SF90 Stradale is dead; long live the Ferrari 849 Testarossa. After revealing its new V8 plug-in hybrid supercar last month, Ferrari has now opened the online configurator to allow potential buyers and everyday fans to spec their dream machine, and the options are numerous. With futuristic lines and an available Fiorano package, the 1,036-horsepower beast takes on some wildly different looks, thanks in no small part to a wide array of color choices – some of which should probably be avoided. Let’s take a look at what’s on offer.

Six Preset Configurations To Choose From

As standard, the default configuration for the 849 Testarossa sees the supercar painted in classic Rosso Corsa (red) with a Nero (black) interior, and from there, customers can make specification adjustments. But if they want a little help getting inspired, Ferrari proposes six alternative starting points. The first sticks with a black interior but gives the body a Rosso Fiammante body (a different shade of red), while the second sees the car painted in Bianco Italia with an Alcantara interior in Giallo Siena (golden yellow). A similarly coppery hue is also available on the exterior in the Giallo Ambra (amber yellow) spec, which comes with a Tortora (light grey) interior. Rosso Fiammante Fiorano adds the white striping on the hood first seen on the Assetto Fiorano package for the 296 GTB, and here, it adds a roundel with a racing number to each door. Similarly, Grigio GTS Fiorano blends a grey body with red striping, though no racing number is evident on this pre-selected spec. Finally, Rosso Magma Fiorano imbues the supercar with a richer shade of red combined with a lighter Rosso Corsa striping package.

If you’d rather choose your own color combo, eight standard colors are available (Grigio Scuro, Rosso Corsa, Giallo Modena, Nero, Rosso Scuderia, Blu Pozzi, Bianco Avus, and Rosso Mugello), along with six historical hues (Blu Scozia, Rosso Dino, Bianco Cervino, Canna di Fucile, Blu Swaters, and Verde British Racing). Still not impressed? 14 classic colors are also on offer: Blu Corsa, Blu Roma, Blu Tour de France, Arg Nurburg, Grigio Titanio Metallic, Nero Daytona, Grigio Alloy, Grigio Silverstone, Rosso Imola, Nero Purosangue, Celeste Trevi, Bianco Artico, Verde Toscana, and Grigio Squalo. Finally, special options include Rosso Fiammante, Giallo Ambra, Bianco Italia, Rosso Magma, and Grgio GTS. The striping mentioned earlier comes in Bianco Cervino, Rosso Corsa, or Giallo Ambra, with the white door roundels available to add to any of these. The number can also be color-customized, with Bianco Cervino, Argento Nurburgring, Nero, or Grigio Silverstone options on offer. Seven wheel designs are available, including one full carbon fiber option, with matching center caps also available. Then it’s on to the calipers, available in standard silver, black, Rosso Corsa, Rosso Scuderia, Grigio Silverstone, Yellow, Aluminium, Blue, or Gold.

To make the car more aggressive, carbon fiber is available for the front bumper, wheel arches, front spoiler, slitter, side skirts, rear siffuser, trunk trim, engine covers, intake manifold, and hood trims. Similarly, the cabin can be equipped with carbon inserts for the dash, the steering wheel (available with shift lights), the area below the windshield, the side panels, the rear shelf, the passenger display, and the door sills. The car key can also be shrouded in carbon fiber. As for seats, you get two standard choices and three racing options with a more bucket-like shape, and even the backs of these can be trimmed in your choice of 10 leather colors, with a center stripe also available for the bit that makes contact with your back and butt. Ventilation is an option, and the standard seatbelts can be had in black, Rot, or Giallo, while the four-point harnesses are available in Giallo, Nero, Rosso, or Blu. 38 interior color-split options are on offer in leather and Alcantara, with 41 individual colors on offer for the carpets, leather, and Alcantara. 46 stitching choices are available.

Other options include a premium sound system and a wireless smartphone charger, as well as a fire extinguisher, a surround-view camera, a suspension lift, paint protection film, electrochromic wing mirrors, and a car cover. Oh, and there are a few luggage choices – duffel bag, overnight suitcase, and suit holders for one or two outfits. The colors and combinations are seemingly limitless, and opportunities to show a complete disregard for good taste abound, but be warned, these options will come at a high cost.
