Lucid Gravity Off-Road Concept to Debut at Monterey Car Week

Share

Lucid Motors is heading to this year’s Monterey Car Week with a bold new take on its flagship SUV. The automaker will unveil a rugged concept version of the Gravity on the prestigious Concept Lawn at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on Sunday, August 17. While the production Gravity only entered the market late last year, this special build leans into off-road aspirations with chunky all-terrain tires, roof-mounted lighting, and an adventure-ready stance.

It’s a dramatic departure from the clean-cut luxury focus of the road-going model, and Lucid says the concept is a signal of where its design and engineering could go in the near future. Visitors won’t just get to admire it from a distance either — Lucid is also offering public test drives of the Gravity and the acclaimed Lucid Air Touring throughout Monterey Car Week.

A Powerhouse With Proven Pedigree

Beneath its new ruggedized skin, the concept is expected to match the performance of the Gravity Grand Touring. That means up to 828 horsepower, a 0–60 mph time of 3.4 seconds, and as much as 450 miles of range in the largest battery configuration. It’s an SUV built for three rows of passengers and serious cargo capacity, without compromising the smooth ride and exceptional efficiency Lucid has become known for.

The company already holds a Guinness World Record for EV range, with the Lucid Air Grand Touring managing 749 miles on a single charge. Lucid is hoping to show that it can take that same efficiency and apply it to vehicles designed for both luxury cruising and off-the-beaten-path exploration.

Why Monterey Matters for Lucid

Monterey Car Week has become a proving ground for brands looking to impress the world’s most discerning automotive audience. For Lucid, this year’s event isn’t just about showing off design — it’s about cementing its place as a legitimate rival to established luxury marques.

The company has been refining its lineup, with the updated 2026 Lucid Air gaining more range, new wheels, and standard NACS charging capability to make long-distance electric travel even easier. Pairing those updates with a show-stopping concept like the off-road Gravity is a way to signal that Lucid can push boundaries in both performance and style.

A Taste of the Future

While Lucid hasn’t confirmed whether the Gravity concept’s off-road features will make it to production, the company has a track record of turning design studies into reality with minimal compromise. By blending California-inspired sensory installations — think of redwood forest scents and coastal lighting — with hands-on drive experiences, Lucid is courting not just EV enthusiasts but buyers who value adventure, comfort, and cutting-edge technology in an equal measure.

Whether the rugged Gravity becomes a limited-edition trim or simply a vision for what’s possible, its Monterey debut sends a clear message: Lucid is here to play in every corner of the luxury electric SUV segment.
